Why We Go
Forested hills above the capital with views, history and fresh mountain air.
Entoto rises between 2,600 and 3,100 metres on the northern edge of the city. Menelik II built his first palace and the church of Entoto Maryam here before moving down to found Addis Ababa, and the area remains rich in history.
Entoto Natural Park now offers forest trails, viewpoints, restaurants and outdoor activities, and the ridge is a favourite training ground for Ethiopia’s long-distance runners at dawn.
