2 nights, designed around the hours that matter
Discover the natural beauty, wildlife and culture of southern Ethiopia around Arba Minch, set between Lakes Abaya and Chamo in the Great Rift Valley. Take a boat excursion on Lake Chamo in Nech Sar National Park in search of enormous Nile crocodiles, hippos and waterbirds, walk through the lush Forty Springs that give the town its name, and visit the Dorze people of the Guge Mountains, known for their beehive-shaped bamboo houses and fine cotton weaving.
Day by Day
Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
This itinerary is carefully planned, but minor adjustments may be made due to weather, local festivals, road conditions or your personal interests to ensure the best possible experience.
Day 1
Fly Addis Ababa – Arba Minch – Dorze Village
Take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Arba Minch. Upon arrival in Arba Minch, meet your driver and guide and transfer to your hotel. Drive up into the Guge Mountains to a Dorze village, where the community is known for its impressive beehive-shaped houses built from bamboo and other local materials. Learn about traditional house construction, cotton weaving and farming, and discover how kocho, a staple food, is prepared from enset, the false banana plant; depending on local arrangements, you may watch traditional food preparation. Enjoy views of the mountains, forests and Rift Valley before returning to Arba Minch. In the afternoon, visit viewpoints over Lakes Abaya and Chamo and, if time permits, the local market. Overnight: Arba Minch.
Day 2
Lake Chamo Boat Excursion – Forty Springs – Crocodile Ranch
After breakfast, head to Lake Chamo for a morning boat excursion. The lake is famous for its large Nile crocodiles, hippos and birdlife: look for crocodiles basking along the shore at the place known as the Crocodile Market, hippos surfacing from the water, and pelicans, herons and African fish eagles. After lunch in Arba Minch, walk through the lush vegetation of the Forty Springs, the natural springs that give Arba Minch its name, and learn how they feed the region’s fresh water. Continue to the Crocodile Ranch to learn about crocodile breeding, behaviour and conservation. Overnight: Arba Minch.
Day 3
Arba Minch – Local Market – Fly to Addis Ababa
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed final morning. Depending on your departure time, visit a local market to discover regional produce, spices, traditional textiles and handicrafts while your guide explains the cultural diversity of the surrounding region, or return to a viewpoint for a last look over Lakes Abaya and Chamo. Transfer to Arba Minch Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa.

What our guests say
Rated 5.0 on Tripadvisor and Google, and 4.9 on SafariBookings.
“My tour operator was very communicative even before the trip began and very responsive on WhatsApp. He booked all my domestic flights and arranged all my airport pick-ups and drop-offs. He had professional guides in all the regions I visited, the itinerary was clear, and he was flexible with any changes. There were no extra costs. He is reliable, communicative and well experienced. I will be back with the same company.”

They were patient, professional, knowledgeable and took great care of us. Everything was seamlessly coordinated and they were always on time for pickups and made sure we were briefed in advance of the itinerary and any changes. One of my top travel destinations in Africa, with some of the kindest and warmest people. Maereg went above and beyond! First-class service, always with a smile!”
