At Extraordinary Ethiopia Tours, every journey is created with passion, knowledge, and a deep connection to Ethiopia. This vision comes from our founder, Maereg Tefere, a qualified Ethiopian tourism professional born in the historic town of Lalibela.
With a professional tourism qualification, an official tour guiding license, and more than 10 years of experience in the Ethiopian tourism industry, Maereg brings extensive knowledge of Ethiopia’s history, culture, traditions, landscapes, and local communities to every journey he creates.
He began his career as a local guide at the world-famous rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, introducing visitors to one of Ethiopia’s most treasured historical sites. Over the years, he has gained valuable experience leading cultural tours, trekking adventures, and community-based tourism experiences throughout different regions of Ethiopia.
Maereg personally accompanies many of his groups to ensure their comfort, safety, and satisfaction while sharing his professional expertise and personal connection to the country.
