For travelers arriving on morning flights, the tour can begin after checking into the hotel. For those arriving in the afternoon or evening, the tour will begin the following day.
After airport pickup and hotel check-in, begin your exploration of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s vibrant capital. Drive up Mount Entoto for panoramic views over the city, then visit Merkato, one of Africa’s largest open-air markets, to experience the energy of local commerce and daily life.
Continue to the National Museum, home to the famous Lucy fossil and a remarkable collection of Ethiopian historical artifacts. Visit the Ethnographic Museum, located in the former palace of Emperor Haile Selassie, to discover Ethiopia’s diverse cultures and traditions.

Depart north toward Bahir Dar through the scenic landscapes of the Ethiopian highlands. Along the way, visit Debre Libanos Monastery, one of Ethiopia’s most important spiritual centers, and explore the nearby Portuguese Bridge, a historic stone bridge surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.
After lunch in Debre Markos, continue your journey through the spectacular Blue Nile Gorge, often compared to the Grand Canyon for its dramatic depth and breathtaking views. Arrive in Bahir Dar in the late afternoon and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful lakeside city.
Begin your day with a scenic boat trip on Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake, to explore the hidden monasteries of the Zege Peninsula. Visit historic 14th-century monasteries, including their ancient religious treasures, colorful murals, and unique island traditions.

Visit highlights including Bete Medhane Alem, the largest monolithic church in Lalibela, along with Bete Maryam and Bete Golgotha, each showcasing extraordinary architecture, religious symbolism, and ancient craftsmanship. Conclude your visit with Bete Giyorgis (St. George’s Church), the most iconic and beautifully preserved church, famous for its unique cross-shaped design.

Spend the day exploring the fascinating cultural heritage of Harar Jugol, the historic fortified old city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through its narrow alleyways, colorful markets, and ancient streets while discovering the city’s unique Islamic traditions, architecture, and vibrant Harari culture.
Visit the Harari Cultural Museum to learn about local customs and traditional lifestyles, explore lively markets filled with spices and handicrafts, and step inside traditional Harari homes known for their beautiful interiors. Continue to the Arthur Rimbaud Cultural Center, dedicated to the French poet and adventurer who lived and worked in Harar during the 19th century.
In the morning, enjoy a final opportunity to explore Harar’s historic sites before transferring to Dire Dawa Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping, relaxation, or additional museum visits in the capital.
