After breakfast, depart southward toward Lake Langano, one of the Rift Valley’s most scenic lakes. En route, stop at the bird-rich Koka Dam and Lake Ziway, both famous for their high density of wetland and aquatic bird species. Keep your eyes open for:

• Abyssinian Ground Hornbill

• Northern Black Tit

• Little Weaver, and many more.

Arrive at Sabana Lodge, beautifully located on the shores of Lake Langano, and enjoy some evening birding near the lake.

Begin your day with morning birding around Lake Langano, then continue to Abijatta-Shalla National Park, home to over 300 species of birds. These twin lakes offer excellent sightings of:

• Greater & Lesser Flamingos

• Storks, Ibis, and Cormorants

• Yellow Wagtails, Swallows, Rollers

• African Marsh Harrier

• Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse, among others.

In the afternoon, proceed to Hawassa for your overnight stay along the tranquil shores of Lake Hawassa, where you may spot Marabou Storks and Egrets by sunset.

Enjoy early morning birdwatching at Lake Hawassa’s Fish Market, a well-known birding hotspot. Observe the interactions between fishermen and birds like:

• Silvery-cheeked Hornbill

• Spur-winged Goose

• Malachite Kingfisher

• African Fish Eagle

• Woodland Kingfisher

• Roget’s Rail, and many more.

Spend the rest of the day exploring nearby wetlands, patches of forest, and lakeshore trails. Your guide will help you identify endemic and migratory birds along the way.

After breakfast, drive back to Addis Ababa, making birding stops at Lake Ziway and surrounding Rift Valley wetlands. Expect to see:

• Yellow-billed Storks

• Collared Pratincoles

• Lesser & African Jacanas

• White Pelicans, Fish Eagles

• Crowned Cranes, and more.

In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant featuring live music, dance performances, and a coffee ceremony. Afterward, transfer to the airport for your international departure.
