Then descend to visit the National Museum, home of the famous hominid fossil “Lucy.” Continue to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, an important religious and historical landmark built during WWII, and then explore the Ethnographic Museum, once the palace of Emperor Haile Selassie. After breakfast, depart south toward the Sidama region and the charming town of Yirgalem, approximately 350 km away. Along the route, make scenic stops at the Awash River and Lake Ziway, well-known for birdwatching. Continue to Awassa for lunch. Afterward, drive onward to Aregash Lodge, an eco-lodge surrounded by forest and local farmland. Enjoy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay at the lodge.
In the morning, travel to Aleta Wondo to visit the Wottona Boltuma Coffee Plantation, a prime example of traditional Ethiopian coffee production. Explore nearby stelae sites, showcasing the region’s ancient history. After lunch in Aleta Wondo, return to Yirgalem and relax at Aregash Lodge for the evening.
Start the day with a scenic drive to Yirgacheffe, one of the most celebrated coffee regions in the world. On the way, visit a local village for cultural insights.
